  • Hey there.

I'm Bunny, and I adopted this wiki since there seemed to be no active staff members around. I have updated the design and I'm working on updated the infoboxes.

Please reply or leave me a message when you can. Thanks :)

    • Hi! I noticed. You...probably could've just asked me for an adminship. You really didn't have to go around to wikia staff. I'm not really active, but I still get emails everytime someone contacts me here.

I haven't actually listened to nightvale in like a year, so I'm really in no shape to be doing major editing, and don't really mind. Keep doing your thing. Front page looks great btw, but I'd reccomend changing the background to something a little grayer. Reading against pure white is murder on the eyes for a lot of people.

I dunno if you need anything from me, but I'm here I guess?

    • Ah, I see.

Also, thanks for the input! See ya around. :)

  • You appear to be the most active admin- are you still active here?

    • Occasionally, if someone sends me a message that something needs cleanup by only an admin (like page deleting, banning spammers, etc) or a new episode image needs to be made, I'll pop in to fix some stuff up. But I don't do regular day to day page editing anymore, primarily because I'm quite a bit behind on the podcast and want to avoid spoilers/don't have the new info to add to pages.

So, kinda? I'm available to do admin duties when they need to get done, but I mostly let the place run itself. Is there something I can help you with?

    • I was thinking about working on this wiki, but I'm not sure yet. I'm just looking around right now.

(Is your username a reference to Meglovania or have I just been playing too much Undertale lately?)

        Loading editor
    • It is! I made it my username based off when the song appeared in Homestuck though, quite a few years before Undertale was made and Toby remixed it for the game. (The handle made a bit more sense then, too. The homestuck soundtrack had the song name oddly capitalized as MeGaLoVania, hence my ripping the initials.)

You're free to poke around wherever you like, I guess. Happy editing if you decide to do so!

  • Hi there! I've recently noticed that the page for [Best Of?], which is episode 67, is missing. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if we're able to put brackets in page titles as they're formatted in WTNV's episode lists, so is it alright if the page name is slightly altered? Basically, I wanted to remove the brackets and just use "Best Of?" instead. I've been browsing the WTNV wiki for a while, and I really want to help out, but I want to make sure I'm allowed to do something before I do it- I'm an admin on another wiki, and I know what it's like to have users who don't do what they're supposed to do... you also appear to be the most recently active admin, so I figured I'd reach out to you.

Hopefully I can do some good work here- I see the anons have done a lot of editing, and I'm usually listening to an episode of WTNV, so I figured I'd take what I listen to and put it to some use! =D

    • A modified page title should be fine, if the regular one isn't possible (though I'd imagine it might be with some html magic? I might have to look into that). People searching for "best of" will certainly be able to find it, and it's a pretty reasonable change if we're dealing with technical limitations.

  • Someone mistakenly made a new page when they meant to make a forum post. I can't delete it myself; I assume that's an admin's ability? Here's the link:

    Thanks!

  • MGLVNA, I just uploaded an image called Eyeless Bloody Office Workers. It is a Photoshopped image from Depositphotos that I do not have rights to; however I believe that it falls under Fair Use as parody.  If you don't feel this way, please feel free to delete it from the wiki.

  • (and since I gather there's stuff with the CSS that Imamadmad needs admin privledges for) should we consider promoting Imamadmad? By which I mean, I am considering it, what do you think? We don't necessarily need more moderation power but having an admin that understands the coding sounds useful to me.

  • Hey, I noticed you recently added some code to support infoboxes to Wikia.css however for users who don't use the Oasis skin code on that page doesn't work for them. Can I ask if the code can be copied to Monobook.css or possibly moved to Common.css as that applies the .css code to all users regardless of which skin they use. Thank you for any help you can give.

EDIT: Ignore the idea of moving as per Imamadmad's comment below.

    • Hey The Light6. Thanks for pointing out about Monobook. Completely forgot to mention that when telling MGLVNA what to copy as so few users still use it. Anyway, I would just like to quickly clear up one small misconception which I also held until a few months ago. Common.css doesn't apply to the Wikia skin (unless one imports it) so it doesn't make much difference whether common.css or Monobook.css is used for adding the code to Monobook. Common does however apply for both JS and a person's personal CSS however, confusingly. I have no idea why. Just thought I should point that out because I remember having some troubles coding something for the Candy Crish Saga Wiki where I tried adding the CSS to common.css in the hopes of it immediately applying to both skins, but it didn't work in the Wikia skin and staff confirmed that it's not meant to apply to the Wikia skin when I messaged them.

    • Huh, that is odd. At least I wasn't the only one who was apparently confused. Lucky than that MGLVNA didn't listen to my suggestion to move it to Common.css and instead copied it. Good call on her behalf.

  • Hey there! I've finished that episode infobox for you! See the template on my test wiki here and it applied on a page here. Do you like? Any changes you want made, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant? If you do like it, moving it across should be relatively easy and I think that all existing parameters should stay the same, therefore not requiring the help of a user with a bot to make everything work. I should be able to do most of the moving, but I will need to get you to add some code to Special:CSS as one needs to be an admin to have access (hence why I styled the infobox on my test wiki instead of here). Any further infoboxes can then be made off the same style sheet. So, yeah, I hope you like it!

    • A little more repetitive yes, if you put them in templates of their own. Everywhere where you'd have class=something you could have or . The td and th styles would be the most repetitive.

Anyway, just saying it's an option, if MGLVNA is at all uncomfortable with the CSS solution.

        Loading editor
    • @88: MGLVNA seem to be OK with the CSS, and also, with a CSS style sheet you don't need to define a class or value for each table cell, as you would with the template solution. You can just define what the child cells of the table do in the CSS, which means only one class declaration is needed in the table to control all style declarations in the CSS. But if MGLVNA had been uncomfortable with the CSS style sheets, the template solution does sound like a good idea.

@MGLVNA: I've just moved the template code across so it should all be working now! I'll fix up the syntax section in the documentation later, because a couple of parameters were removed, but the actual template should be ready to go!

  • What's the order now?
I just took a look at Fickilty's list and it starts the same, so I guess it's just Fickilty's list?
Why not just add the ones we missed (if any, are there any?) in the previously alphabetised list?

    • Given that 'Sandereaux' was only used in the title page and on no other pages (which I noticed when going down the list of cititzens) I went ahead and changed just the title of the page. I hope that was okay.

I alphabetized our list and checked yours with it. You're missing:

No one. I thought you were missing Irena, as they are spelt on ours as 'Erena' but. No. No one. Mostly we're using our list for buildings as we are building a canonical map of Night Vale. So far there's not actually one out there, and trust us, we've looked.

    • Someone commented on my wall saying that the spelling of Marcus' last name is 'Vanston' citing this tweet by Jeffery Cranor: https://twitter.com/happierman/status/456828902149988352

Further research shows a tweet of theirs answering the question Vansten/Vanston: https://twitter.com/happierman/status/396735685836955649 I would like to apologise for the change I made. Wonder why Cecil pronounces it "Vansten".

    • Also. My partner and I run a Night Vale Minecraft server, with a near complete replica of Night Vale. Don't suppose you know anywhere we can advertise that?

      Our tumblr is nightvalecraft.tumblr.com.

      Also seriously, check the link.

    • God bless you sir for that google doc I can give some of the list pages an overhaul

And you're free to make a blog post to advertise it! It'll be right in the wiki activity section, though I don't know how much that's worth since our traffic isn't all that high. I've been meaning to redo the front page, might add some links to fan stuff, so I'll keep your thing in mind.

        Loading editor
    • I will say, the google doc doesn't have a complete collection of everything. Probably. It'll only be missing minor building details, the thing that keyed us off was that it didn't have the fact that Ms. Sandero (whatever her first name is) drove several spikes into the roof of the Pink Berry's.

Also, other CANON information: Route 800 runs north/south of Night Vale. Probably (implied but not canon) goes through Night Vale. John Peters lives to the west of Night Vale-this let us figure out that the Scrub Lands are also to the west of Night Vale. Old Town Night Vale is in the west due to it's proximity to the sunsets. This puts Central and Down Town to the east.

Ummm. There's more. Uh. Night Vale as I'm sure you're aware is reasonably large. With. Say. Okay. Wow. I did not know that Marcus Vanston had a Shopping Mall. Or that every house in town has a chimney. Okay. The things you learn.

We use Cecilspeaks.tumblr.com for reference if you want to know where we pulled our notes from.

And needless to say, we'd be highly appreciative if there could be a link to us on your front page. I mean. The traffic that'd get us. We already had someone from the wiki come our way.
