Josh Crayton is the son of Diane Crayton and Troy Walsh. [1] He was a freshman at NVHS during the 2014-2015 school year.[2]
Josh is a shapeshifter. Some of the forms he assumes include:

- Carved rhino horn with tentacles for legs [4]
- Kiwi
- A form with long bird legs and wings, but a human face
- Cat with human limbs [5]
- Machine part from a 19th century steam engine [5]
- 30-something podcast writer [5]
- Butt (with wings)[5]
He used to work at his sister's pawn shop and later at Big Rico's Pizza. He wanted to become an intern at the Night Vale Community Radio, but his mother didn't allow that because of the danger involved. [4] Sometimes he assumes forms of older people in order to skip class. His best friend is the Glow Cloud's child. [5]
His attempts to find his father led him to visit in King City. [1]
